Power BI Notes- Creating a Dashboard
VISUALIZATION PANE
1) It allows to make a visual
2) It allows to format a visual (modify the appearance of dashboard)
*Each Visual will have elements. we can select each element in the visual to filter the data in the entire dashboard.
DATA PANE
It displays all the columns in the excel
CREATING A DASHBOARD
CARD VISUAL
(button with 123 symbol)
Select Card, drag and drop the column you want in dashboard.
Example: Sum of Sales, Sum of costs, Total Quantity
To display decimal values--> Use the option Format Visual and adjust the decimal places.
TABLE VISUAL
Used for customer wise sales/profits across multiple orders etc

Tool Tips (used to hover to get data but will not be displayed on dashboard. It will avoid cluttering)

Y-Axis
Tip: Start with Y-axis data and then X-Axis data. Y-Axis is always used to represent numerical values.

Home --> Insert Text Box
SLICER
Similar like a filter option.
Drag the excel column and drop in slicer
Slicer can also be used to mention a date range and get data in particular date ranges.
REALTIME UPDATE of data:
After making changes in the excel, save it. Now open PowerBI --> Home --> Refresh
All the data will be automatically updated.
How to Edit Interactions?
Select a visual --> Format --> Edit Interactions --> select reaction buttons like None,Highlight,Filter.
None- that particular will not react
Highlight- faded presentation
Filter- only relevant data will be displayed
Creating dashboard on Phone
PowerBI online version --> Upload the data
Download mobile app to access the dashboards.
